Protect Your Hair from High Heat Tools

Posted by HairProducts | Under Hair Care

The heat from curling irons, flat irons, hot combs, and blow dryers can damage your hair. You can get away with using them for a time without protecting your hair, but eventually this practice will cause damage and breakage to even the strongest hair. High heat can also cause your hair color to fade and cause oxidation. Oxidation can cause unwanted gold, orange and brassy tones in hair color. You can prevent all of this from happening by taking a few extra moments to use a heat protecting product before you use a high heat tool.

The ingredients used to protect your hair vary, but they all have one thing in common – protecting your hair shaft and cortex (center of your hair) from the damaging effects of heat. Here are some of our favorite products to choose from:

CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray uses ceramic technology to protect your hair. The ceramic molecules help to distribute heat and hydrolyzed silk and wheat proteins strengthen your hair. This spray is part of a complete system to protect your hair.

FX SPECIAL EFFECTS Flat Iron Sheer Silky Smooth Heat Memory Flat Iron Spray not only protects your hair from high heat tools, but also contains ingredients to fight frizz. It forms a thermal shield on your hair that protects and conditions.

PRO VITAMIN Intensives Curl Miracle Vitamin Curling Spray helps to form long lasting curls while protecting your hair from heat. The vitamins and protein bond with your hair to give it elasticity and strength.

WET-N-WAVY Leave In Conditioner Spray add elasticity and shine to your natural hair, natural hair wigs and synthetic hair. While you never want to use heat on synthetic hair, this product will give you shiny and soft natural hair while protecting it from heat.

These are just a few of the high quality products you can use to protect your hair. Apply these products on wet or dry hair before you use your high heat tools. For best results section your hair out and hold it in place with wide hair clips. Start at the nape of your neck and spray on the protecting product of your choice. You can then use your curling iron, flat iron or hot comb on each section as you go. If you plan on blow drying your hair, apply the heat protecting spray to your entire head of hair, resection it and then blow dry it. After you blow dry your hair, reapply the heat protecting product if you plan on using your flat iron or curling iron. This will add further protection and help prevent frizz. You can use high heat tools everyday if you take the proper precautions to protect your hair.
