Make Your Blowout Last

One of the best reasons for going to the salon is to get pampered. With that, getting your hair professionally blown out is one of the best ways to get pampered. Leaving the salon with a blowout makes your hair looking and feeling healthy, full, and shiny. If you take a few, extra steps, you can get your professional blowout to last well beyond the salon.

1. Make sure your hair is clean. You won’t be washing your hair for a few days, and you don’t want your roots to get greasy. You may want to use a deep-cleansing or clarifying shampoo like Alba Botanical Clarifying Shampoo Make sure your stylist doesn’t over-condition, as that can make your tresses overly greasy.

2. Go light on product. If you want your blowout to last beyond the evening, inform your stylist. She may rinse your conditioner and opt not to use any product. A light, heat-protectant product is fine. You just don’t want a lot of buildup of product weighing your hair down for days.

3. Dry it out. Take extra care when showering and use a shower cap to protect your blowout from getting wet in the shower. If it’s humid or raining outside, wear a hat or use an umbrella to keep your hair dry. If your hair starts to get oily, or your scalp gets itchy, use a dry shampoo like Batiste Dry Shampoo. A dry shampoo will absorb any greasiness and keep your hair smelling clean and fresh. Section out your hair, hold the can a few inches from your hair, and lightly spray the dry shampoo to your roots. Then, you may want to take those sections and wrap your hair in large, soft curlers.

4.Pull it back. Before washing your face or applying makeup, pull your hair back with a loose tie or headband. Before bed, pull your hair back into a high, loose ponytail, being careful not to disturb the front and frame.

5. Sleep lightly. Before bed, make sure and use a soft scrunchie or bandana to pull your hair back—loosely—into a high, loose ponytail. Sleep on a satin pillowcase. Or, wrap your hair in a soft, satin headwrap to keep it smooth and prevent frizz.

By following just a few, simple steps, your professional blowout will last well beyond the salon.
